In the last few years the talk has been about climate change, what with the disappearing ice caps and polar bears. The erratic weather though has been on the mind of researchers for years.

When researchers were studying the cause if ice age, they noticed that when carbon dioxide levels were high the temperature seemed to rise. This was first noticed in the 17th century, and it was thought at the time that it would take over 500 years to get to a critical state. Due to the increase use of petroleum the critical state has been reached in half that time.
